 European Association of Psychology and Law

Student Society

Mission Statement

EAPL-S is a subdivision of the European Association of Psychology and Law, and aims to provide students a cohesive, well-maintained, and excitingly innovative student society.

By building bridges between students studying psychology and/or law throughout Europe and the whole world, EAPL-S hopes to support the students of today and the scientific community of tomorrow. 

To do this, we:

* Provide opportunities for students to network within psychology and law
* Establish student-oriented incentives at related conferences and events
* Provide funding opportunities to increase student mobility and research
* Encourage collaborations between students
* Encourage collaborations between established researchers and students
* Provide resources to attract students to Psychology/Law and to help retain them



EAPL-S AWARDS

 

EAPL-S aims to provide members with mobility awards and conference incentives for each psychology and law related conference. The following awards were all generously donated by the EAPL, our parent organization.


* Awards * 


* Best Student Paper Award *

Worth: 250 Euro

 

The Best Student Paper Award is given, as the name suggests, to the best student paper/article as submitted to the EAPL-S preceding the EAPL 2009 Conference. A small panel of experts, including two EAPL members and two EAPL-S members will judge this award. This award is presented during the conference gala dinner.


 

First Place (250 Euro): For the most outstanding and innovative article submitted.

 

Requirements:

-    Applicant is a member of the EAPL

-    Has documentation proving current student status

-    Attending the EAPL 2009 conference and has submitted a Paper. Winner must be giving an oral presentation.


Deadline:

- The article/paper has to be sent to the EAPL-S via email ( ) before midnight on June 1st, 2009


 Purpose of award:

To Foster Academic excellence among students, and offer financial support to help students attend the conference and continue with their research.

   

 * Best Poster Award *

Worth: 250 Euro


This award is presented to the best poster presented by a student at the EAPL 2009 conference. It rewards a combination of excellent research, innovation, and presentation.

First Place (250 Euro): For the most outstanding poster. A small panel of experts, including two EAPL members and two EAPL-S members will judge this award during the poster session.  

Requirements:

-    Applicant is a member of the EAPL

-    Has documentation proving current student status

-    Is presenting a poster at the EAPL 2009 conference


Purpose of award:

To facilitate the participation of students in conferences, rather than mere attendance. This award also helps students reduce the monetary loss they have incurred in order to attend the conference, while rewarding their participation.


* Graduate Student Achievement Award *

Worth: 300 Euro

 

An award designed to honor pure academic excellence among students. Similar to a lifetime achievement award, this award is presented to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence in school, publications and community involvement. Students must be recommended by a professor, researcher or supervisor to qualify for this award, along with having an impressive CV. This award is presented during the conference gala dinner.

 

Requirements:

-    Applicant is a member of the EAPL

-    Has documentation proving current student status

-    Is recommended for award by a professor or researcher, has an outstanding CV, and is attending the conference.


Deadline:

- The recommendation of a student has to be sent to the EAPL-S via email ( ) before midnight on June 1st, 2009

Purpose of award:

To reward academic excellence among EAPL-S members, and inspire other students to achieve similar excellence. This also helps cover some of the costs of attending the EAPL conference.

* Information Booth (15.30 – 16.00):
 
Raising awareness of the newly founded EAPL student society.

Thursday September 3rd
* Information Booth: see above. (8.30-9.00; 16.00-16.30; 18.00-19.30)
 
* Free Student Breakfast and Mingling event (10.00-10.30):
 
Come join us for a free student breakfast at our booth! We are serving waffles and juice, and providing an opportunity early in the conference for you to meet other students attending the conference. It also provides you with an opportunity to get acquainted with the EAPL-S. This event is sponsored by the EAPL.

 * Introducing EAPL-S Beer and Snack Mingler (17.45-18.30):
 
A Beer and Snack Event with a presentation introducing the EAPL-S and explaining its role and mission. You get to meet the founders of the EAPL-S, and get to enjoy the great company of fellow students. Free beer and snacks! Come see what EAPL-S can offer you, and how you can get involved.

* EAPL Conference Gala Dinner (19.00 – 23.30):

Come to the EAPL Conference Gala Dinner. At the dinner the EAPL-S Best Student Paper Award and the Graduate Student Achievement Award will be given out to the winners. This dinner is a great opportunity to meet your fellow EAPL-S members and many experts in the field of psychology and law.

These events will allow us to raise awareness pertaining to the new EAPL student society, and allow you to meet other students in psychology and law in a casual and fun atmosphere.

By supporting EAPL-S events you are supporting the students of today and psychologists of tomorrow.
